The Campaign on Accelerated Reduction of Maternal Mortality in Africa is an initiative of the African Union Commission, with UNFPA support. It aims to lower the unacceptably high levels of maternal and child deaths. The campaign has been adopted by African countries as a way of redoubling efforts to improve mothers and babies' health.   The Preventing Maternal Deaths in East and Southern Africa programme seeks to provide robust evidence to inform successful design and implementation of sexual and reproductive health programmes - as well as support formative research in areas of innovation, demographics, and data.   The SYP programme intends to scale up comprehensive interventions for adolescents and young people in Southern Africa through a multi-sectoral approach that touches on policy, integrated HIV and youth-friendly sexual and reproductive health services, sexuality education and youth empowerment.

This project seeks to integrate HIV services with sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services, as an important part of the global response to HIV and SRH. An integrated approach to the management of HIV and SRH benefits clients and service providers, and is likely to improve efficiency in service provision.
