The theme for World Population Day 2014 is Investing in Young People.
There are 1.8 billion people aged 10-24 in the world, making one quarter of the world’s population. Those comprising adolescents (aged 10-19) and youth (aged 15-24).

International Day to End Obstetric Fistula
Every day, almost 800 women die from pregnancy complications. For every woman who dies, 20 or more are injured or disabled. One of the most serious injuries of childbearing is obstetric fistula, a hole in the birth canal, caused by prolonged, obstructed labour due to lack of timely and adequate medical care.

Launch of the State of the World's Midwifery 2014 Report
The State of the World's Midwifery 2014 report will be launched at the 30th Triennial Congress of the International Confederation of Midwives - Midwives: Improving Women’s Health Globally - in Prague, Czech Republic on 3 June 2014. Other national launch events will also take place around the world.
