We are making great progress on the African continent. Since 1990, the rate of maternal deaths in Africa has almost halved, and the CARMMA initiative is helping to speed up progress. More women and men are better able to plan and space their children. Young people are more empowered in sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights. Yet there is much more that needs to be done.

As Finance Associate, you will provide advisory support to a group of Country Offices with respect to operating fund account reconciliations, financial policy applications and Atlas processing; analyses of country office (CO) trial balances and reviews of CO expenditures and balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy of accounts; assistance to country officers in fulfillment of their accountability obligations; and assistance in the year-end closure processes.

You possess

Your education: Completion of secondary education and successful completion of UN accounting test (if applicable).

Your knowledge and experience:

  • 6 years' finance-related work experience – accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger maintenance, etc. Experience in application of IPSAS or IFRS would be advantageous;
  • Proficiency in use of spreadsheets, word processing and computerized accounting systems (preferable PeopleSoft);
  • Successful completion of UN accounting test;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to organize effectively, work under pressure with attention to detail, precision and accuracy;
  • Dedication to UN principles and demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with persons of different national backgrounds.

Your languages: Fluency in English. Working knowledge of French and/or Portuguese an asset.
