The United Nations and partners are calling for renewed attention to the Millennium Development Goals as the target date for their achievement, by 31 December 2015, approaches. Friday, 5 April 2013 kicks off the countdown of the last 1000 days.
UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, is marking this milestone with a variety of activities to amplify awareness and accelerate action on the MDGs. The Fund will draw particular attention to MDG5: to improve maternal health and universal access to reproductive health. It is the goal that lags most behind.
As part of these activities, UNFPA will join UN agencies, the United Nations Foundation and other development partners around the world for MDG Momentum – 1,000 Days of Action and the Momentum 1000 social media rally — 1000 consecutive minutes of digital engagement to amplify the MDG messages.
