Dear colleagues and partners,
The holidays give us a wonderful opportunity to pause and take stock, to reflect and put things into perspective, and to rest, rejoice and recommit with family and friends.
Like any other year, 2022 has been fraught with challenges, yet with tenacity, resilience and passion, we were able to stand strong and weather the winds of disruption and change, while leveraging opportunities. The 365 days in a year may be a blip in time, but each day reminded us of our sense of collective purpose and power, and our true African spirit of ubuntu – of coming together and growing stronger.
We all know the North Star of our mandate, and the holidays remind us of our everyday roles as catalysts of hope, keepers of light during dark times, and a source of comfort for the populations left behind in our quest to realize a world of strong mothers, healthy babies and happy families; hopeful girls and empowered women; and rights and choices for ALL.
As we close this year, and welcome another one, let us take a moment to celebrate our achievements and bask in the knowledge of our collective belief in our mandate and shared passion for a better world for women and girls, young people, communities, and nations.
Thank you for being with us on this journey. Together with UNFPA, we can pursue a world of infinite possibilities, where everyone, especially women, girls and young people, can enjoy good health and equal rights everywhere.

Have a great Christmas, for those of you who celebrate this religious festival, and a peaceful and joyous New Year to you all. Aluta continua.
With love, warmth and peace,
