The African Union, the GlobalPower Women Africa Network, UNFPA, UN Women and UNAIDS are organising an interactive dialogue to engage leading African Women from governments, networks of women living with HIV, the women’s rights groups, academia and the United Nations, in a critical dialogue. Panellist will discuss:
- Ways to better integrate of HIV and VAW policies and programmes leveraging the HIV response to help eliminate VAW? Discuss innovative ideas and ways to accelerate progress towards the elimination of gender based violence and the violation of the sexual and reproductive rights of women and girls living with and affected by HIV on the African continent – for example integrating services for HIV, SRHR and violence prevention, treatment, care and support.
- Best practices addressing VAW in conflict/post conflict situations?
- Harnessing the current momentum of global social responsibility and provide space to strategise on how the issues of gender equality, and the elimination of violence against women and girls and HIV can be best addressed in the global development agenda post-2015.
