The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the African Union are to hold a Special Experts Luncheon at the Sixth Conference of African Ministers of Health (CAMH6), taking place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 22-26 April.
CAMH6 will focus on the Impact of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) on development in Africa. An important part of the discussion of the CAMH6 will be on the outcome of the CARMMA High-Level Event (HLE) that took place during the January 2013 AU Summit and the resulting Communiqué. The Conference will also review the 2013 Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) report and document good practices on Maternal Health.
On 23 April, the Working Lunch on Reinforcing Action on the CARMMA HLE and the outcome, the Communiqué, will enable further discussion on and obtain endorsement of the Communiqué. It will be forwarded to the Ministers for their deliberation, follow-up implementation and reporting at the next AU Summit.
CAMH is a statutory Conference of African Ministers of Health that meets every two years to discuss health development on the continent.
