In 2020, the WHO World Health Assembly adopted a global strategy towards eliminating cervical cancer as a public health concern. The strategy recommends a comprehensive response to cervical cancer and control; this includes community education, social mobilization, vaccination, screening and treatment and palliative care.

Four UN agencies, including UNFPA, in partnership with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency are actively supporting the strategy through the 2gether 4 SRHR joint programme.  In Malawi, the programme enables women and girls to receive cervical cancer screening simultaneously as family planning, HIV testing, and gender-based violence services, as needed.

The attached case study expounds on results and lessons learned from this programme.
