Theme: Empowering Adolescent Girls: Ending the Cycle of Violence
Adolescence is a critical period that can determine the trajectory of girls’ lives. It is a stage at which key investments and support can set girls on a path towards empowerment, or when discrimination, recurrent constraints, harmful practices, and violence can send them down a negative spiral with lifelong consequences, not just for themselves, but for societies and future generations.

World Humanitarian Day
World Humanitarian Day falls on the anniversary of a 2003 bombing in Baghdad, Iraq, that killed 22 aid workers. But the event does not simply memorialize their sacrifice. It also celebrates the spirit that inspired them – and so many others – to serve.

20th International AIDS Conference
The International AIDS Conference gathers together those working in the field of HIV, including policy makers, people living with HIV and others who are committed to ending the pandemic. It is an opportunity to assess the current situaiton, evaluate recent scientific developments and lessons learnt, and collectively chart a course forward. The AIDS 2014 programme will present new scientific knowledge and offer many opportunities for discussions on the major issues facing the global response to HIV.
